Start spreading the news, Jack Bauer and 24 have hit the Big Apple. And hit it hard.
The show’s eighth season, a.k.a. Day 8, opened on Sunday with the promising first half of a four-hour premiere that found Jack recovered from his bio-weapon contamination (Day 7) and in the role of grandfather. But as you could of guessed, that’s just not Jack’s destiny. Trouble came knocking when a bleeding operative named Victor arrived at Jack’s door. He wanted to cut a deal with CTU, Victor revealed that an assassination attempt was imminent against President Omar Hassan. Jack being the man he is couldn’t refuse to help, and so the roller coaster ride that is 24 began.
Compared to the other season’s openers this one started of slow. There’s alot of new characters that needed an introduction and that’s what you get. There’s a new CTU which looks so shiny that your eyes hurt of it, with a new director (Hastings) that ofcourse doesn’t listen to a word that Jacks says. We get to see Chloe struggle with new programs, but I’m sure she’ll get the hang of it soon. Than there’s Dana Walsh that seems to have an intresting side story, wonder what that’s all about. Her soon to be husband (if he survives that is) played by Freddie Prince Jr. has exceeded my expectations so far, which weren’t very high to begin with. In the fourth hour we see the return of Renee Walker. She has become a real “whack job”. Even Jack, despite his sincere concern for her, was somewhat horrified at her interrogation tactics of the Russian. She has really gone over to the dark side and unless Jack can bring her back, she is likely to self-destruct at some point during the day.
I’m guessing we are in for yet another thrill ride.
24 airs Monday’s on Fox be sure to tune in!
